2021 Theme: Families and New Technologies
Megatrends, including new technologies, rapid urbanization, and migration, as well as demographic and climate change, have been dramatically shaping our world. In preparation for the Thirtieth Anniversary of the International Year of the Family, 2024 (IYF+30) the Division for Inclusive Social Development of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs aims to raise awareness of the above megatrends, their impact on families, and responsive family-oriented policies to tackle their effects.
The 2021 observance of the International Day of Families focuses on the impacts of new technologies on the well-being of families and follows up on the theme of the 59th session of the Commission for Social Development “Socially just transition towards sustainable development: the role of digital technologies on social development and well-being of all.” We will celebrate the 2021 International Day of Families online on Friday, 14 May, 10-11:30 (NY time).
