17th April: World Hemophilia Day
World Hemophilia Day is an international awareness day for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. It is held annually on April 17, date of the birthday of Frank Schnabel, founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia.
It’s a very important day for the World Federation of Hemophila (WFH) and the bleeding disorders community—but nothing is more important to us than your health and wellbeing. The WFH wants to ensure that everyone celebrates the big day in a way that is sensitive to the risks of the current global novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The longevity of World Hemophilia Day is proof of the dedication and tight-knit nature of our community. The theme of the big day this year is “Get+involved”. It’s a call to action for everyone to help drive the WFH vision of “Treatment for All” at the community and global level.
Thousands of people around the world will come together—virtually in light of the current COVID-19 crisis—to celebrate this important day. Stay safe, Get+involved, be connected and help make a difference!
